Leslie Raabe is
Vice President for Communications of
OpinionWorks, a full-service market research and
communications firm based in Annapolis, Maryland.
Leslie has more than 15 years of professional
experience as a communications expert, more than
half of which has been specifically dedicated to
the health care field.
Leslie currently
edits two publications for Bassett Healthcare, an
eight-county, four-hospital network in New York
State. She is also a contributing writer to
Greater Baltimore Medical Center's physician,
community and employee publications that reach

four years as Media and Public Relations Manager
for Bassett Healthcare. She was the primary

commenting on public health issues of concern to
the community such as flu vaccine shortages,
availability of physicians in rural areas, and
concerns about anthrax following the September
11, 2001 terrorist attacks. As Bassett Healthcare
is based in Cooperstown, New York, home of the
National Baseball Hall of Fame, she even found
herself commenting on allegations that Sammy Sosa
had corked his bat, after his bat was x-rayed at
Bassett.
From 1998 to 2001,
Leslie was Senior Communications Associate for
Population Action International, an international
non-governmental organization. Leslie directed
the communications efforts for a multi-million
dollar national campaign to educate American
women about international health care issues.
Her prior
experience includes serving as an account
executive for an advertising agency, a public
information associate for two national non-profit
organizations, and a marketing assistant for The
Limited Corporation.
Leslie has written
dozens of brochures on topics from nursing
education programs and community service reports
to descriptions of health center operations. She
has written and edited newsletters, including a
weekly e-mail Staff Bulletin, print and
Intranet-based employee newsletters, and print
and online community newsletters. Leslie has
authored fact sheets on topics from greyhound
racing, to reproductive health, to the purpose
and availability of flu shots.
Leslie has been
quoted on National Public Radio and has appeared
in Pet Minutes produced for the
television channel Animal Planet. She has placed
physicians and other health care providers in
television segments for regional television
programs and has successfully placed stories with
The Associated Press, Newsday, Christian Science
Monitor, and other national and international
newspapers.
Leslie has written
hundreds of news releases, articles and
editorials during her career. She has also
written and edited dozens of health columns for
local newspapers.
Leslie directed
the production of a video news release, has
written several public service announcements for
print and radio, and has secured the voices of
celebrities for a national campaign. She also has
managed the distribution and tracking of PSA
placement and usage.
Leslie earned a
Bachelor's Degree in Journalism from The Ohio
State University.
